Our downtown class offers a Tuesday session from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. This is truly good news for students who work, study or live in downtown. With the convenience location and schedule, students can attend class without any rush to Richmond Hill after a long hard working day.

The training program is well structured and tailored for urban environment, with training modules in specific areas including self-defense practices, forms, chi sao froms, chi sao applications, and sparring practices. You will know your progress. What you will learn from the class:

Quick reaction:
Through training (e.g. chi sao, self-defense drill, sparring), student will develop self-awareness, balance, relaxation and sensitivity to achieve quick reaction time.
Efficient use of power :
As the martial arts developed by a woman according to legend, it does not require a lot of brute strength, but instead relies on good understanding of human mechanics, body structure and timing. This important skill will be developed throughout different training modules.
Practical self-defense :
Students will learn how to defend themselves in different situations (e.g. multiple attackers, physical assault) through realistic self-defense practices. They will also learn how to be aware of their environments.

Downtown class starts in June 2012.

Come and join us! You will see the results in less than a few months!

Sunny Production was impressed with our previous performance and inquired Sifu, if we could perform with him in Chinatown. Sifu presented this opportunity to the students to organize the performance. We had a great time and learned a lot about in producing the performance and organization of it.

Under Sifu and Sihing’s guidance and encouragement, all participated Sihing, Sidai’s dedicated their personal time and great effort resulted a captivating performance. Afterwards, people came up and inquired about our school and all wanted to know if and when a downtown school will be established!

The theme of this particular performance was to project the essence of Wing Tsun style; its efficiency, its centre-line approach, its effectiveness in self-defense and combat situation. We also illustrated the self-disciplined and the encouraging learning environment of our school.

In short, this was a great opportunity to share our Wing Tsun passion with audience, but also gave us an opportunity to bond as a martial art group. Again, it was fun time spent with my SiHings and SiDais.

Sun: I have always wanted to learn Wing Tsun, but didn’t have time and couldn’t find a great school around. Luckily after years of search, I found Sifu Lau. After my first visit to the school, and chatted with Sifu and with few Sihing, I knew I found the right place.
I still remember my first few weeks; I was doing but single punches, basic stances over and over again, then over and over again. Just as I started to feel discouraged from these repetitions, I saw how few Sihings practicing and seeing their lighting, whipping-liked speed punches and sparring, I was impressed and motivated to do the same!
Now three years gone by, I feel that I have learned a lot, at same time, I feel like I just touched the tip of the iceberg. Now my punch is a bit faster, learned sparred better and am looking forward in this life-long Wing Tsun journey.
Above all, like the common phrase floating in our class; this is like a family; I can say that I have gained a new family outside of my own family.
I want to say thanks to Sifu, for your guidance and patience. Also thank you to all SiHings, SiDais, SiJais, and SiMuis support and encouragement.

Mandy Yung: After Sifu announced I passed the technician test, I could hardly believe it. As a member of a minority groups, (well, one of the few female students in the gym) I am totally ecstatic that I have made it.

I joined Wing Tsun four years ago because of my father. He told me that Wing Tsun is for smaller people like me and I would be benefited for learning some self defense skills. So, I joined. At first, I thought my father fooled me. When I compared myself with other sihings and sidias, they were a lot bigger, taller, stronger and fight better. How can I fight against them? After years of learning, I know that Wing Tsun about speed, efficiency of movement and feeling. Even if I am facing a person who is a lot bigger and stronger than I do, I still have a chance to defeat that person. (Sometimes, I hear Sihings or sidias who are almost double of my size complained that they got hit by me in practice. Sorry!!)

Kennthy Pong: The road that led me to the rank of First Level Technician began several years ago. I had just started training with no ability or concepts in martial arts, and Sifu Lau’s knowledge and friendliness convinced me that I had come to the right place. At the time, they were training the first group of Technicians. I remember watching in amazement as my Si-Hings honed their techniques in sparring with each other, and saw how they moved with such speed, purpose, and grace. The first thought that passed my mind at the time was that I would never reach that level of ability!

And yet, as I stood before everyone on the night of my own Technician exam, I found that, subjected to the most demanding test of my abilities I have faced so far, I had demonstrated a degree of skill that I had deemed impossible a few years ago. With the guidance of Sifu Lau, I had learned vital concepts and techniques, and with the time I spent training with my Si-Hings and Si-Dais, I drilled and refined them. Thus, my achievement stands as much a testament to the family that Sifu has developed as to my own skill. Without everybody’s support, none of this would have been possible.

There is nothing that I can say that will properly express my gratitude toward Sifu Lau for the privilege of his guidance over the past few years. Equally little can be said to thank my Si-Hings and Si-Dais, with whom I have trained for so long. All that can be done is to keep training with everyone, and help others realize their goals as others have helped with mine.

We would like to express our big thanks to Master Jimmy Chan Chi Sheung and his Lion Dance Performance Team. It was a great show which demonstrated the true Chinese New Year tradition in front of crowed audience.

Master Jimmy Chan is a very famous and experienced bone doctor who has a clinic in Scarborough. Beside his traditional bone doctor practice, he also trained and developed a Lion Dance team which passes on the Lion Dance culture to the next generation. He has taught many Kung Fu and Lion Dance disciples. Everyone would describe Master Chan as a dedicated, humble and generous senior. For this reason, his social network has spread throughout the greater Toronto area.

On Sunday January 29th, Master Chan lead his Lion Dance team for a 20 minute presentation show in our gym. Three beautiful Lions displayed how energetic, powerful, and joyful a traditional Lion Dance should be. Last but not least, the drummer band team had played a great part in this successful performance. With their cheerful and accurate drum beat, three Lions can jump, dance, and act according to it.

All CWTA students and family members who attended enjoyed the show very much. Many of us had brought our friends, children, and co- workers to watch this show. We were all amazed at the loud drum music, high jumping action to catch the vegetables and liveliness of the Lion dancing. We also want to thank our Sifu (Sifu Carson Lau) who brought us this great opportunity to watch this Lion Dance performance.
